I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, which is the part of LA nobody likes to talk about. I did a lot of skateboarding when I was younger, broke a lot of bones, and spent hours filming my friends; making skate videos eventually brought me to still photography. Once a veggie patty broke my nose in an epic food fight: in total I have broken 23 bones, spent more than a year on crutches, and have a metal plate holding the left side of my face together. I lived abroad for a very brief time and returned to California to work in a special effects studio that made monster movies… that is probably the most interesting job I have ever had. I graduated photo school at 23, started teaching high school in LA a year later and bought a hotdog cart as a side business. Those were also a pretty interesting jobs. I now live in Austin and take pictures for a living and that makes me very happy.

Ian, it doesn't rlaely sadden me. If Mormons are to be accepted as a mainstream religion, than non-Mormons must cease to see every Mormon's behavior as reflecting somehow on every other Mormon. What if a jew or a catholic defrauded you of money? Would that sour you toward all jews or catholics?Stephen, there are several problems. First of all, transferring assets into an LLC no matter how closely held constitutes a sale; if you believe otherwise, then try telling the IRS that it's not a sale (as TPMuckraker claims it's not). Second, the LLC actually purchased the property from him for $400,000, the amount that Senator Reid paid for it. Third, the LLC paid Reid the cash that it made off of the sale. None of these transactions were disclosed to the Senate.mw*, indeed, there are enough scandals to go around. Thankfully, Republicans tend to retire when they're beset by shame.Dave, I believe that the tithing question is both funny and instructive. As important as tithing is, it's much more important to be honest. I don't mean to imply that honesty and tithe paying are mutually exclusive, but anyone with a well-balanced moral compass will sooner skip tithing than engage in political corruption. I'm guessing that Senator Reid did pay tithing on the money that he made, and that strikes me as a bit ridiculous.Dan, Danithew is right. I link to the article you quote, and I refute it immediately above it. TPMuckraker is wrong on the math, he misrepresents the facts, and he obscures the facts that he doesn't misrepresent.Danithew, who wouldn't rather read about Tara Reid than about Senator Harry Reid's investments? But seriously, this scandal brings out the corruption of the press as much as it brings out the corruption of Senator Reid. The New York Times ran headlined . The New York Times article on Senator Harry Reid has a headline reading, .
